Sunroom Patterson Lakes

Poolside at Patterson Lakes. A fabulous new entertainment space, and somewhere that can be enclosed to act as a Sunroom in the winter.

Project Overview

A light and bright extension to your home could be easier than you think, with a customised design, from one of the leading Alfresco Builders in Melbourne. The barbeque is on.

The kids are in the pool. And even in the blazing sun, everyone is cool! This family home in Patterson Lakes previously had a simple but weathered outdoor pergola in need of some attention.

The owners came to us, at Custom Outdoor Living in Melbourne, with a request to build an Alfresco that would maximise their views of the swimming pool, provide an extra room in all climates, and open wide to let the outdoors in – in the summer months.

“The owners of this Alfresco in Melbourne had the perfect walk-through from the existing family room, via a sliding glass door. And this is where the design began to take shape.”

Matt Goodie, the Managing Director of Custom Outdoor Living, said, “We understood, immediately, that the owners were keen to use our services because we could Design and Build the project under the one company banner.

This allowed us to talk them through what was going to be practical, how we could blend the newly designed room to fit with their existing home, and how best to let as much natural light filter in as possible.”

The Alfresco is situated against the glass pool fencing with a backdrop of leafy palms. Glazing that whole wall keeps the appearance of spaciousness, whilst giving elemental protection.

The floor area was clad in Merbau decking, and the external walls were constructed and rendered for a smooth finish. To match the colours, the render was painted to work with the home’s original aluminium windows and doors, and a new skylight was installed.

To keep the design streamlined, concealed box gutter now sits behind the parapet for stormwater.

Patterson Lakes Sunroom

“Whilst never compromising on the quality of our Alfresco build and finishes, we’re always happy to deliver cost-effective options to our clients, to ensure their budgetary constraints are adhered to.

Consequently, in this instance, the owners were keen to contribute by supplying and installing the bi-fold doors, the BBQ area, and a wood fire heater themselves.

Essentially we built the shell and set up the Fire Rated corner for the heater – using Villaboard® lining, and Stack Stone tiles – it is particularly important, when installing an outdoor heater, that the work is completed to safety regulations by a Registered Plumber.

They now have a fabulous new entertainment space, and somewhere that can be enclosed to act as a sunroom in the winter.

We work hard to use our skills as Registered Builders to find the best possible outdoor living solutions for each individual client’s particular living situation.” Talk to us at Custom Outdoor Living TODAY.

We’ll take the challenge, talk you through what you want, and discuss the options, before giving you a virtual look at what’s possible, practical and befitting – to make your vision become an affordable Alfresco that both meets your brief and enhances your family lifestyle.
