Your home has already been built, but there’s room for more! That was certainly the case with this two storey brick home in Glen Iris.
Boasting a rather large but under-utilised backyard, this property had the capacity to be extended to create a new enclosed, outdoor area for entertaining all year round.
That’s what the owners asked for, and that’s exactly what they got from Custom Outdoor Living in Melbourne, one of Melbourne’s leading Home Extension Builders.
With two sliding glass exit doors from two different sides, the new room has easy and ideal access to the extended deck/verandah as well, for gathering friends and family to take a breath of fresh air, or to simply have a quiet chat.
The deck was edged with wire balustrading to enhance the sensation of roominess from indoors or out, whilst the remaining backyard has been kept spacious enough to kick around the footy.
Designed by Custom Outdoor Living’s Designer, Mr. Brad Volling, this Sunroom Extension needed to preserve light through an existing bay window.
This was achieved with the clever positioning of Twin Wall Polycarbonate sheeting to let the sun shine in through the roofline, with the added protection of a solid surface that is UV resistant and highly durable.
The rest of the ceiling was treated with plaster lining, a ceiling fan was positioned to increase circulation, and LED downlights give an air of relaxed ambience at night.

To this end, we carried the new interior stained Merbau flooring through to the deck and accompanying staircases, the roofline was pitched in the same shape, and the overall room addition was streamlined to seamlessly and proportionately line up with the side of the house.
The colours were selected to blend in harmony with the window trims and brickwork, and the owners of this particular project were delighted with the stylish and visually appealing construction and our high-end finishes.”
