Project Overview
WOW! Starry nights and sun-filled days can’t help but permeate your experience as you sit beneath the expansive gable roofline of this gorgeous Alfresco design and construction, by Custom Outdoor Living in Melbourne.
The flowing fresh air and the fabulous view of the pool and rock waterfall (from either the outdoor lounge suite or the dining table) give the ultimate feeling that you’re somewhere truly special!
In just ten weeks, this stunning transformation was made possible by Custom Outdoor Living’s Team of Design and Construction experts.
The owners sought a covered outdoor area to complement the existing home and pool, without losing light to the internal dining room. What they ended up with can only be described as an oasis for exceptional entertaining with family and friends – all year round.

Custom Outdoor Living’s Designer and Consultant, Mr. Ben Wells, initiated the architectural design, and the company’s team of Registered Builders delighted in building the customised Alfresco, and in actually seeing it come to fruition.
Managing Director, Matt Goodie, explained, “The timber frame and solid 190x190mm timber posts were stained (to achieve a semi-transparent finish), and the roofline was constructed above a richly coloured Merbau deck that now hides the original concrete surface.
For further aesthetic appeal, two roof designs were meshed together, allowing the entire area to be covered for complete elemental protection.
Lined with both opaque surfaces and insulated, UV Resistant Twin-wall Polycarbonate sheeting, heat was minimised to the house, itself, and the Alfresco as well.
The cavity of the ceiling also allowed us to incorporate the use of low voltage downlights.”

Not content with installing anything ordinary, the owners chose a fabulous sculpted-blade ceiling fan to circulate air, and this adds captivating texture and flickering shadows when the sun goes down and the lights are on.
And, to ensure all regulatory conditions were met, the importance of safety around the existing swimming pool was easily addressed, with the installation of glass fencing (supported by stainless steel balustrade posts).
And this sheer look makes the entire backyard area seem even more extremely spacious and inviting as a whole.
