Custom Outdoor Living’s Designers look at each project as a blank canvas, and this particular Alfresco was no exception.
The existing gardens and floor space were already beautifully landscaped and paved, and the originally separate spa room was begging to become part of the home itself.
Managing Director of Custom Outdoor Living, Matt Goodie, stated, “Our company was asked to design an outdoor area that could be used all year round.
Without losing light to the existing home, and without disturbing the aesthetics of the immaculately established garden. There were, however, some constraints imposed on our build when the soil tests were carried out.
Not only was the soil report unfavourable (resulting in the need for the use of an innovative footing system), there was also very limited access to the site area – which compounded the need to completely customise the design.
As Professional Designers and Registered Builders, we understood that sheer functionality of this Alfresco was also a key component, and we feel we achieved an incredible result that the owners are delighted with.”
Where there was once just a shade sail for elemental protection, there is now a superb, timber-lined ceiling, with a series of Insulated Polycarb panels to create large light wells, to naturally allow sunshine to stream into this lavish entertainment area.
Top-of-the-range strip heaters, energy-efficient low voltage downlights, two ceiling fans, and a magnificent Stackstone Built-in Fireplace provide the ultimate protection from heat and cold, making this an inviting sanctuary all year round.
Add the incredible outdoor Kitchen/BBQ and Rangehood, tubular spotlights around the walls, stylish furnishings and topiary trees, and you’d be forgiven for inviting your friends and family over to share in this cosy warmth every day of the week.
Matt is particularly proud of facilitating the creation of this stunning Alfresco. “As specialist Alfresco Builders, in Melbourne, we were able to retain all of the original paving and landscaping, construct columns to both link the spa room and support the roofline.
Retain the original steps, deliver our usual high-end finishes, and create an expansive opening that now has ceiling height multi-stacker doors, to almost completely seal the room in inclement weather.”
