Alfresco Design Berwick

Go bigger in Berwick with an awesome Alfresco. Architectural Designs are just the beginning, with Custom Outdoor Living in Melbourne.

Project Overview

Take one big home with a tiny back deck and a plain backyard.

Add a huge outdoor kitchen and pool, then sit back and enjoy the transformation of your lifestyle with Custom Outdoor Living.

This impressive home, with major kerb appeal came complete with enormous entertainment spaces indoors, a sculpted and manicured front garden, and ready-grown privacy all around, thanks to mature pittosporum hedges that screen out the neighbours.

The only thing that the owners lacked was an outdoor entertainment zone to create the ultimate family lifestyle scenario.

We were contacted by the owners, as return clients. They already had a clear concept of what they wanted, and a pool builder ready to dig some ditches to help to make their dreams come true.

Berwick Alfresco Design

Custom Outdoor Living was able to fine tune their design ideas, to ensure better functionality of their new alfresco – and especially where improving the family’s ease of access from the internal rooms to the outdoor dining area was concerned.

They were quickly sold on our concepts, and they loved the virtual impression images we were able to supply before signing on the dotted line.

This modern home is spacious. The kitchen / meals / lounge is open-plan, and access to the existing alfresco already included two sliding doors.

We added a third three-panel sliding door from the lounge and a fourth bi-fold access door for simpler trips to the kitchen.

The pool builders brought their heavy-duty artillery through the garage and installed the spa and main pool across the backyard. A fire pit and fixed bench seat area was created to the side, and everything fitted perfectly within the property’s boundaries and rear easement restrictions.

The build of the actual alfresco involved extending the deck, adding a skillion Klip-lok roof section, some high fixed windows, and a skylight to keep the inner kitchen bathed in natural sunlight.

New Ram Board lengths were installed across the floor space, the walls were lined in plaster, and the outer facades were finished in rendered Duratex (Blueboard).

After securing all of the new bells and whistles to their respective places, all that was left was to tidy up the pool surrounds with large paver slabs, some beautiful stone feature areas, and a low maintenance collection of plants and shrubs.

Managing Director of Custom Outdoor Living, Matt Goodie, is always passionate about giving clients a customised and tailored approach to the consultation and quoting process – and to the build itself.

“Our aim is to give people what they want, coupled with honest and professional advice. Often, some of our clients have pre-purchased special fixtures and other fittings to include, and, In this case, we assisted with the design of the kitchen prior to its being supplied by Limetree Alfresco.

With us, you know you’re assured we’ll collaborate harmoniously with all stakeholders, because this kind of team work not only brings amazing results, but also benefits in keeping a rein on the budget as well.

Likewise, where the owner supplied the rangehood, we could complement the process and factor in its installation – whilst our plumbing, gas, carpentry and electrical experts were onsite. And that’s all part of the service at Custom Outdoor Living.”

From the outset of the project, the original home was seemingly complete from the street, but step into the backyard now and you’ll see how Custom Outdoor Living’s build has made a massive difference.

From the front to the back, the entire property is truly an entertainer’s paradise – rain, hail or shine – with a multitude of places in which to relax, wine and dine.

We’re very proud of this Berwick project. The alfresco area now has music, mood lighting, free-flowing air, protection from the sun, and the ability to move from indoors to out – and step straight into the pool.

What else could you want? It’s a ‘yes please’ from us!”
