The owners of this home had budgeted carefully when they built their existing home. They knew they had the potential to expand when the time came, and when their financial situation would allow it. Enter Custom Outdoor Living.
Managing Director of Custom Outdoor Living, Mr. Matt Goodie (a Registered Builder), took one look at the Berwick owners’ brief and the whole concept quickly came together.
“There was so much potential to turn this open area into a haven for everyone in the household to enjoy the fresh air, find protection from the elements, and hold parties that could take place regardless of the weather forecast.
Paving had already been established, and the owners’ brief included a desire to create a modern outdoor area to complement the existing home, with nice clean lines and a contemporary feel.
At 8.5x 4.5metres, this large Alfresco in Melbourne is now a fabulous arena for the ultimate occasions where everyone concerned can experience the feeling that they can have a quiet chat, take centre stage in a large group, or just let the teenagers ‘do their thing’.
We installed a parapet roof that was rendered in a colour to carefully match the original decor. We deftly placed the columns for necessary roofline support (with engineered timbers, to allow for large openings).
Installed two strategically-placed skylights, and planned everything around the concept of the owners being able to access the new Alfresco, and particularly from the sliding doors that gave direct access to the internal Family Room.
A 75mm foam base was used for the rendered texture, and low voltage downlights now set the mood of subtle ambience when day turns to night.”
