Project Overview
Featuring two carefully positioned skylights to preserve natural light, and a fire-rated wall along the boundary line (in order to make it permissible to maximise the capacity of developing the physical land available).
This Aspendale Alfresco was recently completed by Custom Outdoor Living, in Melbourne.
What was once a simple shade and pergola area has now been transformed into a fabulous indoor/outdoor living space. The modern design encapsulated the owners’ brief perfectly –
And that was to preserve their privacy from the neighbouring property, ensure light was still filtering effectively into the main home building, and that the new ‘living and dining area’ was entirely liveable.

Designed by one of Custom Outdoor Living’s Design and Sales Consultants, Mr. Brad Volling, there are several other stand-out features that add extra impact.
The polished concrete floor, the natural timber panels that bring aesthetic balance to the wall (on either side of the calming water feature), and the Merbau trim at its base all complement the rendered wall, and the original home’s brickwork, to complete the sophisticated look of luxury.
Energy-efficient LED down lights provide extra atmosphere, both day and night, whilst the overhead ceiling fan and strip heating now take care of the family, no matter what Melbourne’s weather throws forward.
The solid plaster ceiling has also been insulated for greater protection.

Managing Director of Custom Outdoor Living, Matt Goodie, says, “We’re very proud of the unique design we were able to craft for this particular home.
The new Alfresco has transformed what was, basically, a ‘side entry walk-through’ into a delightful room to share with family and friends.
The entire build of this home extension in Melbourne took only twelve weeks from the signing of the contracts until completion, and the outlook from the kitchen and family rooms now give a sense of seamless peace, rather than a view of the neighbouring two storey home and a paling fence.

Our attention to quality, in the building and design process, then allowed the owners to install multi-stacker doors to seal the new room to cater for all seasons.
Not only has the Alfresco area become a stylish retreat, it has also added significant value to the property as a whole.
Its owners have a fresh and functional entertainment area to use year-round, that not only looks fabulous, but also provides protection from the elements.”
